The Tyrolean Uprising of 1809

 Inspired by the books by John Gill, "Thunder on the Danube", a set in three volumes;

a)    1809, Volume I; Napoleons defeat of the Hapsburgs, Abensberg,

b)    1809, Volume II; The Fall of Vienna and the battle of Aspern,

c)    Volume III; Wagram and Znaim

and With Eagles to Glory a separate and summary of the 1809 campaign.

Over the last year or so I have been amassing enough forces to represent the Insurgent forces of Andreas Hofer amongst others who were compelled to revolt against the Bavarian totalism imposed on their way of life. If only the kingdom of Bavaria had introduced less harsh or a more gentle approach, a lot of grief could have been avoided.

Although the campaign lasted less than a year, it was particularly brutal with atrocities to match those seen in the Spanish Peninsular war.

Quite often the 'patchy' Bavarian forces were literally "mobbed" by the locals, who, accompanied by Austrian regulars often won the day. It took some time for the Bavarians and French allies to rectify the situation. The conflict also drew in many of the minor states such as the many colours of the Rheinbund forces.

Many of the towns and villages in Bavaria were totally destroyed by the Tyrolean mob in retribution for the support of their overlords.

As part of the normal game rules I use, there's a need to finish off the house rules to accommodate street fighting by these mobs. Which is why this scenario was set up in the first place.
